Vincere WordPress Plugin vs Zapier, which is best?

Zapier is a system that links one app to another, there are literally thousands of apps to choose from including Vincere and WordPress. You choose a trigger (something that happens) and an action (what to do when the trigger happens).

Our Vincere to WordPress Plugin on the other hand was created solely to provide a synchronisation between Vincere and your WordPress website.

We set up some Zapier apps and left them running for a few weeks to see how it fared. The comments below are based on our experience and also talking to our customers who also use Zapier.

Create Job Page when a New job is posted to Vincere

You can create a zap (the term Zapier gives to a process) that will look for new jobs added to Vincere. When it finds one, Zapier will create a new post on your WordPress website. Talking to our customers, this works most of the time which is great. A limitation is that you have just a selection of fields available to sync and it will try and sync all new jobs whether you want them to sync or not.

Zapier Pros

Easy to set up
Inexpensive per zap

Zapier Cons

Not 100% successful
Limited fields available to sync
Will sync all new jobs
Can get expensive if high job turnover

Vincere Plugin Pros

No ongoing fees
Specify exactly which jobs to sync
Sync any field
Sync to custom post type

Vincere Plugin Cons

Longer set up (5 working days)
Initial expense

Remove Job Page when job is filled/closed

We were unable to get Zapier to recognise when a job was filled or closed, similarly Zapier seems unable to remove WordPress posts.

Zapier Pros

None

Zapier Cons

No available zaps

Vincere Plugin Pros

Job removed from WordPress once it moves out of live criteria
Ability to keep job page live, but turn off applications and visibility in job lists (for SEO)

Vincere Plugin Cons

None

Create Candidate in Vincere

Unfortunately we nor our customers have managed to find a way to create a candidate in Vincere once an application form has been completed on your website. We can create a contact, but not a candidate.

Zapier Pros

None

Zapier Cons

You cannot create a candidate

Vincere Plugin Pros

Check for existing candidate
Prevent duplications
Create candidate
Populate any candidate field

Vincere Plugin Cons

None

Create Application in Vincere

Again it seems that Zapier is unable to create a job application within Vincere. Another easy win for our plugin

Zapier Pros

None

Zapier Cons

You cannot create a job submission

Vincere Plugin Pros

Job Application created
Application appears in Vincere just like a manual entry

Vincere Plugin Cons

None

Conclusion

There is much more to our plugin than the three features above, but these are the main features you will need when adding your Vincere jobs to your WordPress website.

You could get by with a Zapier integration if all you need is to display jobs on to your website. A developer will need to style the job posts for you and you will need to remove jobs manually. You could also use a plugin to remove posts that are xx days old to remove jobs from your WordPress website.

If you want to accept job applications and create candidates, our plugin has you covered. Upon form submission, we check Vincere to see whether the candidate pre-exists, if they do, we can update and use that candidate. If they don’t, we create a new candidate. Once we have a candidate, we can create the job application inside Vincere. All this happens in less than a second, giving you almost real time application data inside Vincere.

We also have many more features other than a kick ass job board, check out our other Vincere API products.
